All About Niches

When you create your own information product, the first step is to find a profitable niche, or market to go into. This is a very simple process when you know the steps to take.

There are three areas in which people trying to make money online struggle, and fail. One, not knowing how to pick a product or niche. Two, not knowing how to drive targeted traffic to their site. And three, not taking action on either one or two.

Seriously, this is not rocket science, it’s just a matter of following a plan of action, and sticking to it. I know that I have said this before in other posts, but it deserves repeating….If you are indeed SERIOUS about an online business (yes, business!) then before you put in the time and effort of building a traffic system, get your own domain name, hosting, and auto responder. There are several, if not hundreds of reasons to have your own domain and hosting that I will leave for a later discussion.

O.K. hopefully you have your name, hosting and traffic getting blog in place. Now what?
The SEO blog software that you downloaded for free will optimize your blog, ping many different search engines every time you post, and more. Your job is to add content regularly……a couple 2 or 3 times a week is good. Next comes articles. short 300 or so word articles written around the different keywords for your chosen niche, with a link back to your site in the author bio box. Submit each article to about 25 free article directories. Book mark the articles using social bookmarking sites, such a “delicious”
Articles bring traffic. plain and simple. with some practice, you should be able to see your article in the first few pages of search results, if you chose your keyword phrases carefully. This will become steady, long term, free, targeted traffic!

Another source where you can get almost immediate traffic is with “Backpage ads” This is a free ad site that Google loves. In fact, you can get fast search ranking with Craigs list as well.One more free tool that gets good rankings, is Squidoo. The only problem with Squidoo nowadays is that they have gotten very fussy about what topics you can write about and number of links that you can post. However, if you just stay within their T.O.S you will not have any problems and should enjoy some quality free traffic from there as well. I could go on and on with more resources, linking strategies, video, audio, out sourcing and more. The fact is, if you write articles and keep writing articles, this alone will bring hoards of traffic. The key is to get busy and DO something. Stay focused on your task and you will get there.

Years ago, when I was trying my hand at MLM, there was a fella who spent roughly 10 hours a day on his vacation from work (he teaches school) surfing traffic exchanges. The results you get from traffic exchanges are dismal at best, however he kept surfing, and tracking his results, and managed to fill his matrix!…….I use this example only to show that action is truly a factor. There is no magic button, there are some programs that can help, but short of outsourcing everything, nothing takes the place of taking action.

The absolute secret to making money online is this…………There is NO secret!

Let me explain……..I was one of the ones searching for “the missing piece” or “the secret code” or whatever other type of B____T! that they try to sell you on.
Not to burst anyone’s bubble, but there is no “magic” button to push, or program that you can “plug into” and start making massive money……sorry……The reality side…..yes you can make money online…….No, it is not difficult………Yes, it Does require work………And Yes, if your serious about this and not just screwing around, you need a domain name…a Hosting account….and an Auto responder.

For some reason, the last sentence turns many people away for whatever reason, and they continue to throw money away on this program or that program, that promises the sky, and of course, fails on delivery. If the reason that people get turned away is because of not wanting to spend money, lets break it down………Your domain name is about $8 to $10 a year……yes, a YEAR……Web hosting, is anywhere from $5 to $12 a month…….An auto responder costs roughly the same as web hosting……..How many $47 or maybe $67 e-products have you bought?……….And how much money have they made you?

Think about this….You have a domain name, a hosting account and auto responder set up, online and getting traffic. You then come across an incredible niche that you are really excited about…..what would be the cost of a second domain with hosting and a new series of messages for a new mailing list? answer: the cost of your second domain name, or about $12 a year! My Hosting account lets me host nearly unlimited domains, and my Auto responder allows me to run multiple e-mail lists. What other type of business is there that you can get into with such a minimal expense, and then expand at will for $12 a year?

This is THE secret that all of the big guns of internet marketing use.

Create (a product) …Promote (to their list and the lists of their guru friends)
Then Repeat Repeat Repeat…

So the cost is really irrelevant …what about the techno stuff, like a website…..simple, and very effective,your Hosting account lets you install a WordPress blog with one click of the mouse. Then you download and install a FREE traffic getting plugin and you now have a website that only needs some content.

The short and sweet run down on how this all fits together is as follows……You find a niche that you want to market….you don’t even need to have a product of your own, you can market someone else’s from sites such as Clickbank…..You purchase a domain name related to your niche……set up your Wp blog on your hosting site, offer something for free to your visitors, such as a free e-book,and capture their name and e-mail in exchange for the free download, which goes to your auto responder that starts sending a series of follow-up e-mails delivering good free content to them with an occasional mention of a product that you are selling…..Thats the short version of the big secret to making money online…….a little work, (I will explain in detail…easy)…..yet once set up, requires only updating.

Once you have an established niche site up and functional, it’s time to start another one.

Before you begin the task of building your backlinks, articles, social bookmarking, etc., you need to have drilled down your keywords to the most targeted to the market you are trying to attract.
Try to pick the “buying” keywords, as well as the ones with decent search volume and low competition.

Once you have your chosen “core”
words or phrases, you are ready to start the task of building your system.

First, your own domain……this is a small expense, about $10 a year. Second, your own hosting account…Again, this is of little expense and great rewards. I personally use hostgator, which is only $8 a month.

So why do you need a domain and hosting if your just starting out?..Several reasons. …”Branding” either yourself or your domain. And once you have your site indexed by the search engines you want to keep that ‘free’ traffic as yours for the long haul.

With a domain and hosting you can now upload Jeff Johnson’s free traffic getting SEO plugin for WordPress. You will need the newest version of wordpress, which is as simple as one click to install if you are using hostgator as your web host. Then, just follow the detailed instructions from the “underground training lab” to install the plugin and you are on your way to building a non stop flow of traffic to your new site.

Now you should look into a product or service…..either your own or an affiliate product……..or possibly some Adsense ads….it’s really up to you.

In fact you do not even have to have a product at this point. You can just deliver good content and start building a subscriber list

At this point you should have one more tool in your pouch, and that would be a good autoresponder.

I use Aweber . There are others, however I have found this one to be the best choice all around for me.

With your domain, hosting, traffic getting blog, and autoresponder, you are now poised to expand, grow, and become wildly successful.

You have the foundation in place upon which to build your online empire!
